Supernatural Presence of Jesus

The story of Jesus walking on the water is one of the most famous stories in all of history. But, often, familiarity can breed a type of complacency. When we hear this story, we may be tempted to think “I know where this is going” or “I already know how to apply this to my life.”

Often, we think that this story centers on Peter and his lack of faith. We think that we are like him and are supposed to have more faith than we do. While this is partially true, it is really only a small part of what is happening with this story.

This story actually centers on Jesus, painting a vivid picture of the nature of God, Himself. Today, we will talk about three aspects of the nature of God, revealed in this passage and we’ll see how to respond in a way that fosters deeper hope, joy and love for God.
